The kids go back to school sporting a trendy new wardrobe, hip hairstyle, shiny computer, crisp notebooks, pens & pencils; it’s a fresh start to the new school year. Now it’s your turn to motivate!

Look at these office spaces; they’re inviting, comfortable, stimulating and glamorous; there is nothing here that makes me want to slam the door and run. Yes organization & function are paramount, but your office shouldn’t look like a place of chaos & punishment. You can have the best of all worlds!

 

Take the utilitarian quality out by mixing up your lighting; hang a beautiful chandelier & sconces, and add task lighting where needed.

Motivate your space by introducing a wonderful color palette and playing with patterns; draperies, occasional chairs, benches & plush area rugs are the perfect segue to layer interesting textures & vibrancy into your decor. An added bonus is all of these layers will soak up the sound, so now your phone conversations won’t echo through the house.  Thankfully, most electronics are wireless; use built-ins and cabinetry to hide electronics & wires to keep your office chaos & clutter free.

A comfortable desk chair doesn’t have to be ugly; reupholster your office chair in a luxurious fabric, just be sure it can take the wear & tear of your daily derriere!

Instead of the standard bookcase use more decorative shelving and style it with your personal collections and accessories. Hang beautiful mirrors, artwork, collectibles; this is where your personal style can shine.

Install a custom bulletin board to display invitations, photos & reminders. Use a decorative tray and interesting vessels on your desktop to Sherpa your pens, pencils, paperclips, etc.

And don’t forget the ceiling!
